The Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW)

The federal government provides 84% and Nova Scotia supplies 16% of the funding for the Nova Scotia Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW). The intent of the projects funded under TIOW is to help participants, aged 55-64, secure employment through activities such as employment assistance, essential skills upgrading, preparation for self employment and work experience. In the first year of the two year program, 2007-2008, more than 55% of the 175 formerly unemployed workers found work by the end of their projects.
